Mindful Neighborhood Nature Strolls with the Cambridge Council on Aging
Join us for a series of walks as we slow down, be attentive to nature with all our senses, and deepen our appreciation for Fresh Pond Reservation.
We will be guided to settle into our bodies and connect with our location and with our group as we then “walk the talk” and slowly explore part of Cambridge together. Our Mindful Outdoor Experience will include: simple warm-up movements, natural history of the area, guided breathing and centering awareness, mindful walking with sensory activities, and finding our nature meditation/sit spot.
There will be invitations to pause, to share reflections and to “soak with our senses” wherever we may find ourselves at that time, both emotionally and physically. You will be supported to explore experience in your own way.

Mindful Nature Sensory Series with Cambridge Public Library (Indoors; Adults) (6:6)
Curious about “forest bathing” (spoiler alert: no water required) and how to experience indoors?
Then join me and the Cambridge Public Library’s Nature Club for a calming and restorative indoor introduction to the practice of Forest Bathing, specially designed for people 55 and over.
Come once or join every workshop in this 6-part series to explore the concept of "Shinrin-yoku" (“forest bathing”) which is the practice of being mindful and contemplative within nature, using all your senses.
While we won’t be venturing into the woods, we will bring the essence of the forest indoors, - with the possibility of short outdoor excursions, weather and interest permitting.
Workshops will include discussion about the benefits of Forest Bathing, such as reducing stress, enhancing mental clarity, and improving overall emotional health. Also, every workshop weaves time to connect as a group community and to share with each other our questions, reflections and experiences. And, of course, this being a library event, how could books not be incorporated?!
The experiential portion of the workshops will focus on our senses one at a time, workshop-by-workshop, through simple mindfulness exercises, gentle guided nature imagery, and other grounding activities that promote relaxation and (re-)connection with ourselves and with nature.
No level of physical ability or prior experience with meditation or mindfulness is necessary — just an openness to relax and explore a new way of calming and connecting.
These workshops are designed to bring the peaceful, healing benefits of the forest right to you.
